If Guys Use a Corny Pick Up Line, Should They Be Banned from Dating?
I’m gonna talk a little bit about whether or not a guy has any business using a corny pick up line when meeting an attractive woman the first time.
But let me tell you this, while doing research for this blog post on the subject of terrible and bad pick up lines… I ran across this one website which has a spreadsheet of 20-30 pick up lines that guys can use “in the field” with the number of times tried… and the number of times it worked.
Quite frankly, I wasn’t surprised, not only these pick up lines were all bad, very bad… and every single one of them were tried several times and failed. Miserably…
My point is this… there is a time for guys to use a corny pick up line but when meeting an attractive woman for the first time… just like with job interviews or networking… first impressions really do count.
And if this girl doesn’t know you from Bob or Dick… well, you are going to sound very lame and sleazy if you use a pick up line.
And let me tell you this guys… most girls are NOT stupid! And the more attractive the woman is… the more likely she “heard” that lousy pick up line you are trying on her…
And then guess what? She is going to reject you as unsuitable and needy…
Now, I can see why some guys would use pick up lines… they want to make the girl laugh… but trust me on this… pick up lines are so obvious… and unless the girl is very, very confident of herself… she probably won’t think much of you for using them on her.
(Here’s a hint guys… most girls have enormous confidence issues… no matter how rich they are, no matter how successful they are… and no matter how beautiful they are!).
Word to the wise guys… instead of memorizing pick up lines (which will automatically put you in the loser category)… I strongly suggest that you take a few more minutes to learn how to improve your confidence in approaching women… how to understand how women think differently than the men do and how to use that to your advantage.
I recommend that you check out Double Your Dating by David DeAngelo… this is the classic How-to dating book for any guy that wants to improve his dating game.
However, there IS a time and place to use a corny pick up line to make a girl laugh… you can try them after you guys been dating a bit and are comfortable with each other… it can be a hilarious exchange of ideas of what lines “work.”
Here is a top ten list of hilarious… but corny pick up lines that I liked (but never would use when meeting a girl the first time):
- Your legs must be tired, because you’ve been running through my mind all day.
- Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?
- I lost my phone number. Can I have yours?
- Were you arrested earlier? It’s got to be illegal to look that good!
- I hope you know CPR because you take my breath away.
- You must wash your pants with Windex, because I can see myself in them.
- Your body is like a temple; it needs to be worshiped.
- You make my software turn to hardware!
- Should I call you in the morning or nudge you?
- Excuse me, I’m a little short on cash, would you mind if we shared a cab home together?
I hope one or two of them make you laugh out loud… I just can’t imagine why for the life of me, a guy would use these to pick up a woman that he would like to get to know better for a long term relationship.
In fact, when I think about it, if a woman DID like you solely because of a corny pick up line… I’m reminded of the famous quote from Groucho Marx:
I don’t care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members.

I agree 100 percent with this. The real key is to spend your time working on your confidence and self esteem so that when you approach a woman it really doesn’t matter what you are saying to her, your worth will shine through.

iT’S 2011…are people really still using these pick up lines? I’ve never heard anyone say any of these things unless they were joking.
