Should Guys Compliment Women on their Shoes?
Recently I was having a discussion with a good friend of mine… she said that “Guys should always compliment women on their shoes… you can’t go wrong!”
I told her… “Gee, I don’t know about that one… I believe that most of the shoes that women wear are impractical because they are uncomfortable and probably hurt their backs and feet. And besides… I don’t lie very well.”
Of course she came right back at me with a doozy… “That’s why you need to compliment women on their shoes! They hurt sooo bad, that they better look darn well good. Now go practice your lying in the mirror.”
Then a few days later… I saw this picture of the actress Penelope Cruz… and they highlighted this really, really weird pair of shoes she was wearing and I was reminded of the “exchange” of ideas I had with my friend.
So I asked her… “Are these the kind of shoes that I should notice and compliment? EVEN though they look like some sort of medieval torture devices that has been totally banned by the Geneva Convention?”
I present Exhibit #1 for your analysis:
Of course my friend developed some scruples and wrote back to me: “Haha. No, just compliment on any shoes that doesn’t look orthopedic. I would only wear those shoes in the photo if I was a hooker.”
I said, “I don’t think Penelope Cruz is a hooker… but she sure is an idiot for wearing those shoes that could break her back.”
So the question I have for you my dear readers… what do you think about the crazy shoes some women wear… should guys compliment on her taste even though it looks like she is wincing with every step she takes?
Me? I’m of the opinion that women should wear comfortable shoes that won’t hurt her foot or back. And besides… if the woman is attractive inside and out… it wouldn’t matter to me if she was wearing fugly, blocky shoes…
